Calgary Doula
During your pregnancy, we will arrange at least 2-3 prenatal visits to prepare for labour, birth, and infant care. These meetings will give us a chance to get to know each other better, and provide me the opportunity to find out how I can best support you before, during and after the birth of your baby.
We will focus on your preferences for the birth, strategies for coping with the labour, and
answer any questions you may have.
In addition to preparing for the labour and birth, I can help prepare you for breastfeeding,
your postpartum care, and infant care.
I can also provide you with various resources including books, websites, and recommendations
to other birth professionals.

I will be on call for you from your 38th week on – night or day.
Once labour begins I will join you when you decide you want my support. I will stay by your side the full time you are in labour and assist you through the entire process. Additionally, I would be delighted to take photos to capture your first moments as a family.
After the birth, I will remain with you for a few hours. This will allow for plenty of time to support initial breastfeeding, assist you as you move to and get settled in the postpartum unit (if birthing at Peter Lougheed, Rockyview, or Foothills). If you give birth at home, I will make sure to look after the cleanup
and assist the midwives with their many tasks. Then it will be time to tuck everyone in for a
well deserved rest, possibly a second feed, then lights out.
Over the next several days I will stay in touch to make sure all is well.
I am available to you (24/7) by email and phone for the first week after the baby is born. You may have questions about breastfeeding or your postpartum care; I have the answers or will find someone who does.
Within a week or two after the birth, I will stop by at least once for a postpartum visit. Birth is such a life changing event that you will likely want to talk about the experience. It is comforting to relive the journey with someone who was there. This will offer you the opportunity to debrief your experience.
During this visit I will also provide space for you to offer feedback about my services.
